English eight day movement with three metal weights and a brass pendulum. White painted dial with scene above. Black Roman numerals. North American case. Circa 1820-1840. Original graining was removed in the 1920s and was restored in 1984 based upon remaining graining on the inside of the case. Graining does not a simulate a particular wood but resembles mahogany in colour. Clock is likely original to Montomgery's Inn and there is a record of a clock being brought to the Inn in 1838 or 1839.1820-1840

Originally fine gentleman's trousers, they eventually became working clothes. Found at Montgomery's Inn in the attic jammed between 2 joists in 1973. They may have been stuffed in the attic in the 19th century to stop birds from nesting. After they had been discarded by their last owner they became the home of many rodents, birds, webbing clothes moths and other bugs. Insect damage was extensive, with large areas, such as the back gusset, completely consumed. Had the trousers not been so extensively patched with cotton and linen fabrics, it might have been impossible to distinguish their shape. In their working lifetime, the trousers had acquired seventeen different patches, using ten different fabrics in addition to the wool twill of the original construction. The quality of the needlework in these repairs varies considerably. Signs of wear are in predictable areas: seat, knees (frequently re-patched), hem of legs (particularly at inside seam). A coarse lining was inserted inside the seat after the patches were attached, and the front fall was completely covered by a patch. The watch pocket was sewn up and removed. When found, the trousers were quite fragile, so some areas were stabilized by basting them to a nylon net. 1830simagehttps://TORONTO.MINISISINC.COM/M3IMAGE/IMAGES/Finished%20Sort%20of%20Images/Artifacts/Collections/Montgomery's%20Inn/987.49.2/Montgomery%20Pant%20-%20Overall%20recto/987.49.2.Overallrecto2.jpgPatched and worn beige trousers

Hinged door at back. The three pieces of wood from around the top of the box are original circa 1838 and were found in the Inn's attic. The rest of the box is a circa 1975 reconstruction based upon drawings by architecture students of Eric Arthur circa 1933. Willie Chung, who was born at the Inn in 1937 and lived there until 1945, remembered his mother, Lillie, chopping up most of the speaker's box for firewood one winter.1838-1975 circa
